What we have here is an outstanding audience recording (and photos) of the first public performance of The Invaders live at the Red Poppy Art House on June 28, 2008. The group featured the compositions and piano playing of Mitch Marcus with the rhythm section of Dr. Ban-Weiss on bass and Jeff Marrs on drums.

On June 20, 2008, the Red Poppy Art House celebrated Marcus Shelby’s original trio by playing host to a reunion performance with Marcus on Bass, Matt Clark on piano, and Jaz Sawyer on drums. Joining them was the powerhouse tenor saxist Howard Wiley along with special guest Geechi Taylor on Trumpet. Here’s a few photos and a short video clip that’ll give you a small taste of what turned out to be a crazy hot and steamy summer night of killin’ live jazz in the Mission. ![]()
